.27 is a number Ruby hates.

It's a number that marks the percentage of the population that has survived. It's a number that means she's one of the "lucky" few still standing. And it's a number that says her father is probably dead.

Against all odds, Ruby has survived the catastrophic onset of the killer rain. Two weeks after the radio started broadcasting the warning, "It's in the rain. It's fatal and there's no cure," the drinkable water is running out. Ruby's left with two options: persevere on her own, or embark on a treacherous journey across the country to find her father-if he's even still alive.

My Review:

Although this book was probably not the best to read while in Hawaii where I spend 90% of my time in the water, it was amazing. I loved the narration throughout and really enjoyed how smooth all the experiences linked together to form the story. Ruby is an extremely sassy character (something I can relate to) and her way of telling the story in a more diary-type way made for a quick read. The plot was very intense pretty much throughout the book and I was worried the entire time about the outcomes of the characters as they were all super relatable and I found myself caring a lot about them. The ups and downs that Bergin added into the novel were brutal but deeply enjoyable. The struggles that the main character, Ruby, has to experience and go through were really realistic as far as the situation goes, which I felt helped the novel have a more nightmares-become-reality feel to it which I really enjoyed. Overall, it was definitely a good read and I would totally recommend this... just remember to stay inside when reading it ;)

Final Grade: A
